Why Afghanistan?

A story about a country torn by wars for decades, forgotten mountains, a lonely climb to the highest peak of Afghanistan, the birth of Polish winter mountaineering and the struggles of Afghan female mountaineers.

In the book, the author takes the reader to Wakhan Corridor. Checks if it is possible to climb safely in the Afghan Hindu Kush. He follows in the footsteps of medieval merchants, mujahideen defending access to the region against the Taliban, and Polish mountaineers who started high altitude winter expeditions.

He was also a witness to the mountain struggles of young Hanifa. Let’s see if the first Afghan woman can ascend Noshaq – the highest peak of Afghanistan – and if there is still room for joy in the country being recognized as the last place in the World Ranking of Happiness.
